Zelensky Honours Bakhmut Fighters, Ukraine Strike "Kills 80 Russians", France to Send Light Tanks

Published
Donetsk military head Pavlo Kyrylenko claims that over 60% of Bakhmut is now destroyed as Russian forces attempt an advance on the city. Kyrylenko also said two civilians died in the city on Jan 4 due to Russian shelling. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky honoured fighters in the Bakhmut region, who, he said, inflicted "numerous losses on the enemy”. Ukraine claims that it killed over 80 Russian troops after attacking a Russian military office near Tokmak in Zaporizhzhia. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock says the only thing on Putin’s mind was the destruction of Ukraine. The UK Ministry of Defence says the death toll from the Ukrainian attack in Makiivka was likely exacerbated by storage of ammunition there. France is to send AMX-10 RC armoured fighting vehicles to Ukraine following a call between the countries' presidents.
