Why Russia will not allow Ukraine to become a member of NATO or the European Union

Russia is cast as the villain as far as events in the Ukraine are concerned, but when we look at the historical background, it is possible to see that the Russians have genuine and justifiable anxieties, which have been exacerbated by the behaviour of Britain and the United States.
