Diplomacy is 'key to resolving the Ukraine crisis,' stated German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Kiev on Monday.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Baerbock called the situation at the Ukrainian border 'highly dangerous,' warning Russia that, 'Each repeated aggression would have a high price - we have repeatedly stressed that. We are ready for a serious dialogue with Russia for diplomacy is the only available solution to diffuse the currently highly dangerous situation."

When asked about whether Germany would offer support to Ukraine through arms supplies, Baerbock declined, saying, "The German Federal Government's position regarding arms supplies, restrictive arms policy in particular is well known, and has its foundations in history."

The statements came as the new German FM travelled east for a series of working visits, with a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov scheduled for Tuesday.

SOT, Annalena Baerbock, Foreign Minister of Germany (German): "The Russian military presence and threatening rhetoric that it is associated with was the subject everywhere recently. Our message remains unchanged and I want to stress it here in Kiev once again - solidarity. European solidarity for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. For us and for me, personally, this is not debatable. Each repeated aggression would have a high price - we have repeatedly stressed that. We are ready for a serious dialogue with Russia for diplomacy is the only available solution to diffuse the currently highly dangerous situation."

SOT, Annalena Baerbock, Foreign Minister of Germany (German): "The German Federal Government's position regarding arms supplies, restrictive arms policy in particular is well known, and has its foundations in history."

SOT, Annalena Baerbock, Foreign Minister of Germany (German): "The best leverage we have to support Ukraine is the clear and unanimous acknowledgement of the EU, G7, NATO that any further aggression would come at a high price for the Russian regime - economically, politically and strategically. And we are very serious about it."

SOT, Annalena Baerbock, Foreign Minister of Germany (German): "This applies to Nord Stream 2 as well of course. At present, European energy law isn't being implemented completely regarding this project. This is why the certification process has been suspended. At the same time, we have geopolitical implications regarding this project; we would not talk about it this frequently otherwise. As the Federal Government we therefore stand together with the USA joint statement and together with our partners, we will take the corresponding measures together with our partners in case of further Russian escalation."

SOT, Annalena Baerbock, Foreign Minister of Germany (German): "It's very difficult. There is no magic door that you can open to solve this crisis."
