The History of Europe (9/11): Revolutions and Napoleon 1770-1814

Published
In part 9 of this 11 part series on the History of Europe we look at one of the most consequential events in world history - the French Revolution.

Why did the revolution happen in France? And importantly... were there really sex shows put on in the palace gardens?

We also delve into the causes of the counter-revolutionary uprisings following 1789 and the near-genocidal response from the authorities in Paris.

In the second half of the video we discuss the Revolutionary Wars 1792-1802 and following Napoleon's rise to power, the Napoleonic Wars 1802-1814.

As William Wordsworth said, "Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive, But to be young was very heaven!"

I hope you enjoy the video.
