The $2,000,000,000 FOUND Nazi Gold Train!

Published
One of the biggest mysteries of the Second World War was what happened to a suspected Nazi Gold Train that went missing after the war came to an end. There are rumours that this train filled with gold bars and millions of dollars of jewellery and riches is found underground hidden in a tunnel, but there was one Nazi Gold Train which was found and seized at the end of World War 2.

As Budapest was heavily bombed by the allies, one man was placed in charge of organising the transport of stolen Jewish property, gold and valuables from the Hungarian capital back towards Nazi Germany. This train was made up of over 40 carriages and was staffed by guards who wished to protect the riches. It's estimated that it had a worth of around $2,000,000,000 (2 billion dollars) on board, and it went through Austria to get to Germany, however quickly behind were the Soviet Red Army who were advancing. When the train arrived at a small Austrian town of Werfen, it was seized by the US Army, and the Americans began to take control of the property.

There was a large amount of looting of the stolen gold, and this went missing and disappeared. After the war, there was a tribunal that critisized the handling of the Nazi Gold Train, and settlements of millions of dollars were reached. However much of the property never emerged and was never returned to those Jewish families who had their property stolen by the Nazis. Many of the paintings stolen have also never been recovered, and still remain missing.
