Germany's Miscalculation: Operation Barbarossa

Published
When the German army attacked the Soviet Union, they made a mistake (along with others) that would cost them the war. The German intelligence service underestimated the troop reserves that Stalin could bring up from the depths of the U.S.S.R. and this made all the difference. The Wehrmacht found itself in a situation like a boxer jumping into the ring and finding that there are multiple opponents, but only after the fight has started and cannot be stopped except with his defeat by knockout.
