FRENCH REVOLUTION AND AGE OF NAPOLEON [PART 2] - WORLD HISTORY LECTURE SERIES

Published
In this Lecture, I will discuss the Rise of Napoleon Bonaparte who seized power in France in 1799; this brought on the so-called Age of Napoleon whereby Napoleon formed his First French Empire. This Empire helped spawn the bloodiest conflict in the 19th century, the Napoleonic Wars.

Here are some basic topics that I will cover in this Lecture on various historical events or famous people associated with the Age of Napoleon:

Who was Napoleon Bonaparte? When did Napoleon seize power in France? What two main sub-periods divide up the Age of Napoleon? What were some reforms of Napoleon that he initiated as ruler of France? What was the Napoleonic Wars? What was the Grande Armee? What was Napoleon's greatest battle and victory he won? What were some causes of why Napoleon's Empire collapsed? What two islands are Napoleon eventually exiled to in 1814 and 1815? Which British general defeats Napoleon in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815? What was the Congress of Vienna? What Bourbon king was restored to the French throne in 1814?

This Lecture includes a short video clip entitled "Napoleon's Bloodless Coup" originally from the History channel discussing how Napoleon Bonaparte seized power in France in 1799.
