Published
Welcome to Castelsaraceno!, Basilicata region.

Nestled between two parks - the Pollino National Park and that of the Lucanian Apennines Val d’Agri Lagonegrese - Castelsaraceno is the ideal destination for those looking for a place rich in history, offering genuine food and surrounded by unspoiled nature.

The most famous attraction of Castelsaraceno is the adrenaline-pumping Tibetan bridge, a single-span bridge of 586 meters, a measure that makes it the longest of its kind in the world.

If you don't suffer from vertigo you can cross it: you will be 80 meters high. You have to book in advance. With a cost of 25 euros per person. A minimum height of 120 cm is required to enter.

Castelsaraceno, built in 1031 by the Saracens, is in a particular position, perched on the rocky spur "La Tempa".

This makes it a very special village to be discovered: between houses close to the rock, steep and winding streets, dead ends (called supports) and medieval buildings, the historic center of Castelsaraceno is a real jewel.

Among the most characteristic corners we point out the main square with the Baronial Palace of the fifteenth century, the church of San Rocco and the late Renaissance church of Sant’Antonio.

In this walking tour I will take around the small village of Castelsaraceno!!.
