2. How a revolution in one country led to a terrible war in the whole of Europe #1812 #napoleon

Published
The revolution in France was long overdue, but was pushed by the treasury crisis.
For the sake of tax reform, Louis XVI convened the parliament.
But the Parliament limited the king's power.
Public unrests broke out.
In pursuit of revenge, Louis fled from Paris to his allies.
However, he was arrested and soon sent to the guillotine.
The new parliament, the Convention, was caught between the tasks of government, the revolutionary masses, and the threat of counter-revolution.
The political struggle within the Convention led left-wing radicals – Jacobins led by Robespierre to power.
Under the slogan of defending the revolution, they unleashed terror.
Introduced a new calendar.
And even new religious cults.
But Jacobins ['ʤækəbɪnz) became victims of the next coup.
Society was tired of the revolution.
The new government – the Directory, striving to maintain its power, made a bet on the army. But still lost control.
General Bonaparte seized the power by proclaiming himself the Consul.
And later the emperor.
